Hit Fox Show Glee Hold Casting Call on MySpace

By 8

One of the most Tweeted about televisions shows, the musical comedy-drama Glee, will hold an open casting call to fill spots for the next season of the show. Other television shows have initiated Internet casting calls in the past, but this is the first time one has been done at such magnitude. MySpace announced on March 31st that aspiring “Gleeks,” the name given to show fans, between the ages of 16 and 26 (because they must look like a high school student) can upload a video of their four-minute performance of a Glee song through the Glee Auditions Official MySpace Profile. The list of songs that Gleeks can perform are: “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going” - Dreamgirls "Gold Digger" – Kanye West "Rehab" – Amy Winehouse "You Can't Always Get What You Want" – The Rolling Stones "Can't Fight This Feeling" – REO Speedwagon "Don't Rain on my Parade" – Barbara Streisand "Hate on Me" – Jill Scott "Keep Holding On" – Avril Lavigne "Lean on Me" – Bill Withers "True Colors" – Phil Collins I addition to the performance, would-be Glee cast members also need to include a one-minute commentary on why they want to be on the popular show (other than fame and money, I assume).  All submissions must be uploaded by April 26th. Originally envisioned as a movie, the first season of Glee, dramatizing a high school glee club, has been extremely successful.  Not only has the show accumulated an intense fan base, but also each week the producers release the shows songs to iTunes, and Gleeks have downloaded over 2 million tracks.  What’s more, the show has also bee syndicated in several other countries and the cast from the first season are set to go on a concert tour this year. For tall the Gleeks out there, whether you are a hopefully cast member or not, check out The Vitamin String Quartet Performs The Songs of Glee including tributes to: “Defying Gravity” “Don’t’ Stop Believing” “Somebody to Love” “Imagine” “Gold Digger” “Papa Don’t Preach” “It’s my Life”
