VSQ Master Series: Velvet Underground's Velvet Underground & Nico

Download on iTunes The Vitamin String Quartet Master Series presents the  critically acclaimed Velvet Undergound & Nico album. Known for  unabashedly diving into riské and dark subject matters, the album with  Andy Warhol's yellow banana gave birth to some of rock's greatest songs  of all time. We dare you to go deeper into the music through the VSQ's  complex string arrangements where violin, viola and cello take you on a  journey that is beautifully parallel to the experiences you originally  get from songs such as "Heroin" and "I'm Waiting For the Man." Tracklist:

  2. The Black Angel’s Death Song (originally performed by The Velvet Underground and Nico)

beck We've been hearing a lot of buzz about Beck's new project called Record Club, "an informal meeting of various people to record an album in a day."

“An album will be chosen to be reinterpreted and used as a framework. Nothing rehearsed or arranged ahead of time. A track will be uploaded once a week on beck.com as well as through the web sites of those involved with the project.”
Apparently we aren't the only ones with a love for musical reinterpretations! We're more than thrilled to hear Beck's take on classic albums, but trying to guess which ones has had us stumped. Some Stones...maybe some Dylan? Check out the website today to listen to the first song, "Sunday Morning” from The Velvet Underground & Nico. Collaborators on the Record Club project include Nigel Godrich (who has worked with Radiohead and Paul McCartney, to name a few) as well as Joey Waronker (session drummer for Smashing Pumpkins, Elliot Smith, etc). The list goes on to include producers and musicians with equally impressive resumes: Brian Lebarton, Bram Inscore, Yo, Giovanni Ribisi, Chris Holmes, and from Iceland, special guest Thorunn Magnusdottir.
