See Tour DatesRod Stewart Announces Vegas Residency
Last week Rod Stewart announced his two year residency at the famed Caesar’s Palace resort in Las Vegas. The show entitled “Rod Stewart: The Hits” will feature Stewart’s classics including “Maggie May” and “Every Picture Tells a Story.”
Stewart previewed this concert eevent with an eight show run at the hotel. The setlist included covers of classics including “Proud Mary” and “I Get a Kick Out of You” in addition to Stewart’s “Reason to Believe,” and “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy?”. Stewart recently told Billboard Magazine that he’ll “try to give the people what they want, which are the songs that made me famous, plus a few surprises. There won't be any magicians or midgets, just a good rock show.” Tickets for the extended engagement are on sale now via Ticketmaster and range in price from $49 to $250. Caesar’s Colosseum Theatre is a popular destination for iconic artists to post up for such long term stints. These are some of the best: Celine Dion: Caesar’s Palace built its 4,296 seat Colosseum Theatre (where Rod Stewart will play) for Dion’s run of shows that began in 2003. It lasted until 2007, included 717 concerts and grossed $400 million dollars. Dion returned last March to Las Vegas for another three year stint. It seems that just like Dion’s Titanic soundtrack classic, this residency will go on and on. Cher: The legendary diva’s 2008-2011 run at Caesar’s Palace ended last February and included 192 concerts. Cher received $60 million dollars for this engagement, which included rarely seen footage from the Sonny and Cher show in addition to mega-hits including “If I Could Turn Back Time” and “Believe.” Elton John: John also posted up at Caesar’s Palace for a five year run of his "Red Piano" show. John performed 241 Vegas concerts before taking this show on the road. He’ll return to Caesar’s this September for a three year stint called “The Million Dollar Piano.”
